Time to Change – Start Implementing a  Healthier Lifestyle into Your Life.

Making changes to your lifestyle is a positive decision to make. I too was overwhelmed. I had so many things to change. Where do I start? How can I possibly change everything all at once?

How would I even remember everything I’m supposed to do to change?

Consequently I would put off starting until Monday, but, Monday never came. It wasn’t until I finally decided that I needed to crawl before I could walk.

I picked just a few things and starting implementing them right away.

Here are a few ideas that could help you make that first step towards a healthier lifestyle.

 Drink more water

Make a conscious effort to drink the recommended 8-10 glass a day. Drinks like coffee, cordial soft drinks and beverages similar to this can not be inclusive of your daily water intake. Many drinks contain caffeine which dehydrate you therefore creating imbalances in you water balance.

 Daily Exercise

This is a necessary requirement as it will provide you with energy for the day. Do an exercise that you can incorporate into your new lifestyle such as walking even a little exercise is better for you rather than no exercise at all. Doing 10 mins of walking per day to start with is good, you can then increase this time to 20 mins a day as you get used to walking as an exercise.
 
 Reduce stress

There are many different things we can do to reduce stress but for me the biggest thing I had to learn to say no more often. I’m guilty of wanting to be everything to everyone and always putting myself last. By putting yourself first for a change and being able to say no to others  when you want to is a also a great way to reduce stress. This also will enable you to incorporate more exercise or meditation time for yourself.
 
Get more sleep

We all burn the candle at both ends leaving us exhausted and craving carbs. On average a person requires 8 hours sleep per night.  It wasn’t long after I was making sure of it 7 days a week!
 
 Meditation

Taking time out to meditate is very beneficial t  o your overall health. By meditating on a daily basis this can bring peace, clarity and control into your life.

There are many things you can do on your quest for a healthier lifestyle. What to choose and how to work it into your routine can seem tedious and frustrating. My only hope is to break down a few simple ideas that you can take away and start working on today.

Once you have worked them into your routine and mastered them, you will be ready and excited to start taking on more. You will notice that this will reflect on other aspects of your life i.e. making healthier choices day in day out. So start now! Pick a few and get started today!
